District Governor AJ Mathew installed the new biogas plant we constructed at MRCH, a school for children with special needs. The meeting was well attended, the chairman of school, Dr VC Raveendran, who is also a Lion briefly described the wonderful progress of the special school and the contribution of Lions club and other people. Dr Mohan Ramdas and Uthradam Chandran who are active in the school are also active Lions. AJ Mathew congratulated these Lions for their contribution to society.

District Governor's visit
Lion CA A J Mathew MJF visited Payyanur club on 20 Dec 2014. He inaugurated a biogas plant at MRCH, a special school for differently abled children. In General body, he congratulated president Prasanth Nayanar for currently being the No 1 club in the district, and contributing 10 new MJFs this year. He also complemented Lioness and Leo clubs, all of which are very active with club activities as well as service projects. our PDG Dr K Damodaran inducted a new member, Aneesh Damodaran, who is son of late Lion Dr P K Damodaran, and engineer settled in US by profession.

Mega medical camp
A mega medical camp was held by Lions Club Of Payyanur, in association with VR Nayanar Smaraka Vayanasala at Kunhimangalam on 28/09/2014. A special camp for oral cancer detection and gynec awareness was also held. Camp was inaugurated by MLA TV Rajesh. Doctors from different specialties examined patients for free and medicines were distributed. Suspected cancer cases were advised further tests and treatment. Doctors present in the camp were Ln Dr.Mohan Ramdas(General Medicine), Ln Dr VC Raveendran and Ln Dr Padmanabhan(ENT), Ln Dr S Rajiv(dermatology), Ln Dr Praveen Gopinath and Lns Dr.Balamani Rajiv (Gynecology) and Ln Dr AV Sreekumar, Ln Dr E Rajesh, Lns Dr. Suja Vinod (Dental).

Peace poster contest
The peace poster contest, an annual prestigious event organised by Lions Clubs International was organised by Lions Club of Payyanur at Lions Community Hall on 04/10/2014. 20 children from various schools in Payyanur, in the age range of 11-13, participated. Lion Jayayaraj Kuttamath who's district chairperson for Peace poster contest explained the rules and conducted the proceedings.
Among all the entries, the winner was Leo Akshara Jayaraj (she stood second in last year's contest). Cash prizes were given to winners, and the winning entry was sent for International contest.
