On the world diabetes day, we conducted diabetes awareness class and a detection camp for senior citizens of Mahadeva Desai Smaraka Vayanasala Vayojana Vedi (senior citizens forum) at Mahadevagramam, Payyanur. Dr Unnikrishnan Namboothiri gave a detailed awareness class. Basic investigations of blood pressure, blood sugar and blood grouping were done. President Jayaraj presided over the function. Lion Balan ZC was also present.

Lions Quest teachers training workshop
We conducted Lions Quest (Skills for Adolescence) workshop at Payyanur. 30 teachers from 4 Schools (Chinmaya Vidyalaya, PES School, ISD school and SN school) were trained for 3 days. Senior trainer Dr Revati Balu MEd from Chennai trained the teachers.
Lions Quest program is a program to be implemented in schools as a weekly program, to impart life skills for the students, and aim to improve their personality, time management and detract them from vices of youth.
The teachers were given set of books published by Lions International, and also the books to be given to students. The club will ensure that the program is implemented in schools and students given the instructions as weekly classes.
District Governor Lion Dr Suchitra Sudhir inaugurated the program on 8th November. 1st VDG Ln CA AJ Mathew attended the valedictory function on 10th Nov and distributed the certificates. Lions Quest District Chairman Leela Rajagopal and advisor Dr K Gopinath looked over the project assisted by Club President Jayaraj Kuttamath and secretary Ajith D Shenoy.

Sight For Kids
We conducted SFK (Sight For Kids) screening camp in association with Comtrust eye hospital, Kanhangad at Lions Community hall, Thayineri. A team of 8 members consisting doctors, technicians, and nurses from Comtrust hospital participated.
Teachers from 60 schools were initially trained to screen their students and they had selected 70 students to be further examined out of which 11 students were found to need glasses and they were given that. 20 other students needed further examination in the hospital, and they were appropriately guided.
